Jyväskylä Artists’ AssociationThe Jyväskylä Artists’ Association is a professional association founded by visual artists in Central Finland in 1945. The association aims to promote visual arts and exhibition activity in the area, and works towards improving the social and professional position of the artists. The association organises art exhibitions, and operates an art gallery as well as an art rental service. In 2007, the association has around 100 members.
Galleria BeckerGalleria Becker and its art rental service are operated by the Jyväskylä Artists’ Association. The gallery is situated in an attractive wooden villa built in 1903, on a culturally and historically noteworthy spot, in the immediate vicinity of the University of Jyväskylä, Alvar Aalto Museum and the Museum of Central Finland. The exhibition changes every 3 weeks, generally showcasing contemporary Finnish art. There are two exhibition spaces, with a total of 56m2 of floor space. The room height is 3.2 metres. The courtyard can be used for building the exhibition. There is also a guest room available in the gallery. Artists wishing to exhibit in the gallery should apply direct, with images of their most recent works and a resume. The exhibitions are selected by the exhibitions board of the Artists’ Association. The board consists of three members and the executive director of the organisation. Taidelainaamo Art Rental ServiceThe Art Rental Service has been one of the key projects since 1985. The collection includes around 1800 graphic prints, paintings, sculptures and photographs that art lovers can rent or buy to own. The rental fees range from €8 to €24 a month, depending on the price of the artwork. If you later wish to own the work of art you have been renting, the rental fees you have paid will be deducted from the purchase price. An interest-free instalment plan is also available for purchasing art. |
